beCogent calls on ntl:Telewest Business to support rapid growth

  • Scalable communication infrastructure is key driver for new business success

24th April 2006 - beCogent, the outsourced contact centre solution provider, has selected ntl:Telewest Business to support its fast growing communications requirements.

BeCogent employs 1,600 people at its operations in Airdrie and Erskine and gained a third Scottish centre on 1 March when it took over customer enquiries from National Australia Group's (NAG) subsidiaries Clydesdale Bank and Yorkshire Bank.

A scalable communications infrastructure is critical to beCogent’s fast growth, enabling the company to secure new contracts with very little capital investment, as the infrastructure is already in place. beCogent handles inbound and outbound customer communications for a variety of blue-chip companies including J D Williams and John Lewis Direct. It was named Scotland’s second fastest growing company in 2005 by Deloitte & Touche, posting sales growth of more than 2,000% over the last five years.

ntl:Telewest Business has provided an IPVPN (IP Virtual Private Network) for voice and data traffic between beCogent’s headquarters in Airdrie and its second site in Erskine. Both sites are connected to the ntl:Telewest Business network by dedicated lines that have the potential to be scaled up to a bandwidth of 100 Megabytes per second. ntl:Telewest Business also provides more than 1,200 voice channels for both inbound and outbound communication.

“ntl:Telewest Business has been instrumental in enabling beCogent to scale its operations and support business development.” said Charles Breslin, Managing Director, beCogent. “Contact centres are one of the most demanding communications applications. To be selected by one of the UK’s leading contact centres for such a critical role is testament to our service levels and our ability to support fast growth businesses with demanding communications requirements.” said Stephen Beynon, MD, ntl:Telewest Business
