ntl:Telewest Business adds cordless handsets to its no-strings attached telecommunications portfolio

  • ntl:Telewest Business and Siemens Home and Office Communications Devices  partner for the first time to bring business-ready DECT phones to the SMB market

9th October 2006 - ntl:Telewest Business, part of the UK’s second largest fixed-line telecommunications company, has today added Siemens cordless digital handsets to its product portfolio.  By bringing the mobility of the DECT phone (digitally enhanced cordless telephone) into the office, employees have the ability to move around the office, yet still have the flexibility to access a phone.

Working together with Siemens Home and Office Communications Devices, ntl:Telewest Business is responsible for bringing the Siemens Gigaset C460 handset to market, the first of a series of cordless digital handsets designed to suit the needs of small-to-medium sized businesses.

The Siemens Gigaset C460 handset is a feature rich, business ready, cordless telephone.  Employees can benefit from business-ready functionality, including conference facilities, internal call transfers between DECT handsets, a signal range of 50 metres indoors and 300m outdoors and a business contact directory that stores up to 100 contacts.

Julien St.John-Dennis, Head of Products at ntl:Telewest Business said: “Small-to-medium sized businesses can now order a phone line, broadband internet access and a range of business-ready cordless digital handsets direct from us. This means that there is no need for SMBs to go to a different supplier to order a new handset, effectively making us a one stop shop for businesses looking to fulfil their telecommunication needs.”

Further features of the Siemens Gigaset C460 handset include:

  • Hands-free functionality, facilitating conference calling
  • Caller ID and call waiting, meaning that customers will never miss an important call
  • Call duration display on screen, making managing the cost of your calls easier
  • A function allowing call transfer of an external call to another handset
  • A business directory allowing the pre-programming of important numbers, which can be dialed at the touch of a single button
  • The ability to send and receive text messages
  • A built in alarm clock
