Telewest Business aids Sutton Harbour Holdings in Plymouth development

July 6 2004. Telewest Business, the supplier of broadband communications to the public and private sector markets, has been chosen to provide regeneration and transport company Sutton Harbour Holdings, with a unified telephone system, linking all its sites together to aid faster service and inter-dialling, lowering the cost of their calls.

Owners of Plymouth City Airport, Air Southwest, Sutton Harbour Marina and Plymouth Fisheries, Sutton Harbour Holdings is a multi-site organisation based across Plymouth and the surrounding areas. It wanted to link together all its various sites so turned to Telewest Business for a solution.

David Scott, facilities manager, Sutton Harbour Holdings said: “ We have numerous sites across different areas of the town. To link them all up to a digital system would have been prohibitively expensive because we would have to have a digital exchange at each point as well as physically having to install the wiring. Using Telewest Centrex, we were able to reserve part of the Plymouth Telewest exchange and reserve numbers allowing us to dial between our various sites.”

The benefits of this have been vast. Because all calls go through the Telewest Centrex server, Sutton Harbour Holdings has no maintenance and installation costs but still benefit from many of the features of an individual network including voicemail, call forwarding and automatic messaging.

Sutton Harbour Holdings has taken a leading role in helping to regenerate the area around Plymouth Harbourside including, winning an award for the transformation of the Old Fisheries building into the extremely high profile business retail unit.

Tony Grace, managing director of Telewest Business said: “As one of the most important aspects of our work, we pride ourselves on our customer service and satisfaction. Sutton Harbour Holdings has gone a huge way in developing the Plymouth region and helping to regenerate the harbour and its surrounding area and we are pleased to be able to aid them further in their progress by managing their telephony services through our Centrex network.“
