Plymouth and South West Co-op sign to Telewest
Business
October 1 2004. Telewest Business, the supplier of broadband
communications to the public and private sector markets, has been
chosen by Plymouth and South West Co-op to provide CPS (Carrier Pre
select) and WLR (Wholesale line rental) services to switch all
their calls and line rental over from BT.
Plymouth and South West Co-op had in excess of 660 Telewest
lines for its Centrex service and a further 270 BT digital and
analogue lines have been transferred over to Telewest's CPS and WLR
service. They already make use of Telewest’s managed voice product,
Centrex and benefit from free calls between their sites. This
latest project means that Telewest will be their single supplier
for all voice services.
Tony Smith, Central Systems Manager, Plymouth and South West
Co-op said: “Our location makes it difficult to have access to
other Telecom providers products as we are often out of their
served areas. With Telewest’s new CPS and WLR service we now have
access and can benefit from Telewest’s level of customer service
and their lower rates. It’s a much better deal for us”.
Julien St.John Dennis, Telewest Business director of voice
products said: “Our new CPS and WLR service means we can now offer
customers a much more competitive voice tariff than BT. Backed up
by our high level of quality service, organisations are turning to
us to provide voice services nationally.”
Plymouth and South West Co-op Society is Devon’s largest
independent retailer and operate both food and non-food outlets
across the South West peninsula. Operating almost 80 retail outlets
and employing around 2,200 people they have a turnover of £140
million.
A recent survey commissioned by Telewest Business polled 104
telecom managers in the UK on their current voice services. The
findings showed that nearly a third of UK businesses are unhappy
with their voice services but over half of those polled did not
know about CPS services.
