11th September, 2008. Your Space, a highly innovative provider
of urban serviced offices in the UK, is working with ntl:Telewest
Business, part of the Virgin Media group, to deliver historic
premises and pioneering facilities to small companies. The unified
communications platform delivered from ntl:Telewest Business’ next
generation network, enables Your Space to include phone and
broadband costs as part of the overall service charge.
Additionally, it is permitting Your Space to offer entrepreneurs
the world’s first free virtual office service.
Companies using the new virtual office service
get to have a prestigious business address, their mail securely
handled, one free hour of meeting room hire per month and, thanks
to ntl:Telewest Business, have their calls answered in their
company name by a receptionist and rerouted – all completely free.
Designed to help small companies meet the challenges of the credit
crunch, Your Space expects significant take-up from early stage
entrepreneurs needing office facilities without the associated
overheads, as well as from expanding businesses needing an
operation in another city.
The new network is also allowing desktop
videoconferencing and powerful unified messaging tools to be used
by Your Space customers, enabling them to operate more flexibly and
with greater cost control.
ntl:Telewest Business has deployed a
high-speed 10 Megabits-per-second (Mbps) Internet Protocol Virtual
Private Network (IPVPN) to connect all Your Space centres around
the UK in a single private communications environment. This
provides the infrastructure required to run a Cisco Call Manager
unified communications system that delivers converged voice, data
and internet services to every customer within each centre. The
ntl:Telewest Business team was also appointed to provide Your Space
with Local Area Network (LAN) infrastructure, IP telephony
services, managed Internet access and Integrated Services Digital
Network (ISDN) connectivity.
Rather than building new premises or
converting existing offices, Manchester-based Your Space takes over
buildings with character in urban locations and converts them into
advanced, unique, serviced office locations. The company’s mandate
is to respect the local community and work towards sustainability
with each of its centres, creating commercial environments that are
more flexible and appealing for entrepreneurial businesses.
Your Space wanted to further differentiate
itself from its competition and deliver more innovative
communications services to its customers, including flat-rate
premises and communications charges that enable customers to better
control costs. It chose ntl:Telewest Business to deliver these
services because of the reach and sophistication of its UK-wide
next generation IP-based network, and the project management
credentials of the team. As well as all communications being
delivered over a single network, the system has features that add
operational flexibility such as wireless access and free calls to
any mobile or landline as part of a standard package.
“Telecoms is at the very core of the services
we offer and we wanted to stand apart from the competition with an
advanced infrastructure of services that would enable driven
entrepreneurial spirit to thrive,” said Colin Rimmer, Brand
Manager, Your Space. “By making advanced communications part of the
fabric of what we offer to customers, we have empowered them to be
able to be more innovative with their operations. Working closely
with ntl:Telewest Business has enabled Your Space to offer
something unique in the market that is driving interest from lots
of customers. They understood our vision and were the only telecoms
provider that could help us achieve it.”
“Using technology to differentiate an already
thriving business is about more than next generation capability.
It’s also about the telco having a positive attitude towards
delivering infrastructure that suits each customer down to the
ground,” said Andrew Marshall, Head of Business Markets for
ntl:Telewest Business in Manchester. “We’ve been able to provide
Your Space with telecoms capabilities that set new heights in the
serviced office market and pave the way for some truly progressive
working patterns.”
