Students
Higher and further education needs
To ensure the safety of its 25,000 students, the University of
Central England in Birmingham has invested in a high speed CCTV
communication network from ntl:Telewest Business. The move has
ensured that the university is able to put in place a centralised
security policy for fighting crime across its multiple sites in
Birmingham.
Through a student satisfaction survey, students at UCE
Birmingham have already reported a downturn in crime in the early
phases since the new CCTV services went live.
Student services
University of Birmingham
At the University of Birmingham, ntl:Telewest Business, working
with Damovo, provides the underlying services to implement a high
speed campus network that gives more than 5,000 students access to
email, the internet and telephony.
Universities of Southampton and Surrey
The Universities of Southampton and Surrey were among the first
universities to benefit from ntl:Telewest Business' ‘Connect.ed’
campus student services package. The package was introduced to
provide university students with low cost prepaid telephony,
internet access and data services within halls of residence. For
